Fiber Internet : How It Works

How It Works Fiber Internet

Fiber-optic internet, commonly called fiber internet or simply “fiber,” is a broadband connection that can reach speeds of up to several Gigabits per second (Gbps), with low lag time. The technology uses fiber-optic cable, which amazingly can send data as fast as about 70% the speed of light.  Fiber to the home (FTTH) is considered the best possible internet delivery method, and SonicNet is pleased to offer FTTH service starting in 2022 in the Bass Lake area of Eagle River.

In 2023, new fiber service will be available on or near portions of Cranberry, Catfish, Eagle, Scattering Rice, and western Tambling lakes and nearby roads.  More coverage areas are being planned.  If your town or neighborhood is looking for future-proof internet service from your local, proven broadband provider, please reach out to us by selecting "Contact Us" at the top of the page.
